I ♥ Spring TAG!

I found this video on youtube and thought I would do the questions as well. I will link the video at the bottom of the post.

1. Favorite spring nail polish?

I don’t think I have an absolute favorite, though two spring colors I’ve used lately and really like Essie First Timer and Skylark’s Dream Catcher. Also, my favorite pastel ever (though I haven’t used it yet this year,) Sation’s Lollipop Goes the Princess. I haven’t found a new favorite spring color yet for this year.

2. What is your must-have lip color this spring?

I don’t typically use lip color, and I haven’t even tried this color yet, though I purchased it a while back. I have a Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in the color Sweetheart Valentine, and it seems like a nice color for Spring. It’s a nice bright pink color.

3. Show us your favorite spring dress!

I’m on the lookout for a spring dress. I own three dresses, and I never wear them because I don’t like them and rarely (very, very rarely,) dress up. However, I’ve been looking for a casual dress, and though the one I wanted is no longer available online, I’ll include pictures of a few I’ve been considering.

00064305-02 00124800-04 $(KGrHqQOKp0FIFocPUVHBSDFJF7SdQ~~60_3
4. What’s your favorite flower?

I wish I could remember the name, but really I like all flowers! I like daisys and pansys.

5. Favorite spring scarf/accessory?

Really it’s probably my nail polish! But I guess in terms on accessories, I have a Vera Bradley bag that really reminds me of Spring. (Well they all do, but this one in particular.) It is a “Frannie” style bag in the color “Summer Cottage” that I bought a few years ago. If I’m ever trying to minimize the amount of stuff i carry, this is probably the bag I would pick.

6. What spring trend(s) are you most excited about this year? (Makeup, fashion or both!)

I suppose just pastel colors!  I mean I like them all year but I love seeing all the virbrantly colored clothes in the stores. I also really like the color of the year. I’ve never really gotten this “Pantone Color of the Year” stuff, but I do like the “Radiant Orchid” color for this year. It’s very pretty.

7. Favorite spring candle?

Last year I probably would have said a floral scented candle, but really I’ve had enough of those to last me a while. So I guess I’ll pick the Paris Amour scent from Bath & Body Works. I have the candle (though I’ve never lit it,) and I think it would be good for Spring.

8. Favorite body spray/perfume for spring?

I don’t have a favorite, but right now I’m trying to finish of the last of my Sweet Pea scented body spray (it’s almost gone, as you can see.) I suppose it’s a nice spring scent, but I’ve also outgrown it. I mean it’s nice, and smells like spring, but I definitely won’t buy anything Sweet Pea scented again anytime soon.

9. What is spring like where you live?

It starts to warm a little, but it also just snowed (again) a tiny bit. It really doesn’t start to feel like Spring until April is almost over. Oh how I look forward to it.

10. What’s your favorite thing about spring?

When it warms up! And its warm enough to go outside, and stay outside, without 25 layers of clothes on.

11. Are you a spring cleaner?

I’m making the effort this year, sort of. I always have trouble getting rid of things, but I have started to go through my clothes. Being in college, it’s all about finding the time to actually clean, and also wondering, since I’m in college and broke, whether or not I should actually get rid of it because I might need something one day and not be able to afford to repurchase. I do intend to clean up a bit, though.
12. Any plans for spring break or an upcoming vacation?

No. My spring break is over. I’d like to plan some sort of day trip for the beginning of June, but no “vacation” plans.

Anyway, that’s it. I tag Hannah, once she returns to blogging. That’s it for now!

First Impressions- L’Occitane Repairing Conditioner

I had recently ordered some hand lotions from L’Occitane (I probably shouldn’t have, but it was a set of 3 very small lotions and I’ve wanted to try this brand forever and I feel I can justify it,) and with my order came 3 samples. 2 skin serums (which I may or may not use), and this conditioner. This lasted for 2 uses. I can’t say I felt it did anything for my hair, but can you really tell with only 2 uses? Though I imagine, for the price, I maybe should have seen a slight difference. It did smell really good though. It was a sweet scent, but I don’t know how to explain it as it wasn’t a typical sweet scent. I don’t think I would buy this item in full size. I didn’t notice any difference and, considering this is $33 full size, out of my price range.

#ManicureMonday- OPI A Definite Moust-Have

It has been quite a while since I last posted a Manicure Monday, (I’ve actually checked, and it’s been over 3 months! Wow.) I’m not sure how I stopped posting these altogether, as they’re one of my favorite things to post. Anyway, hopefully I will remember to do this more regularly now. The color I’ve used today is from last year’s Couture de Minnie OPI collection in the color A Definite Moust-Have. I really like this color because it’s red, but it’s really pink. It reminds me of summer and makes me happy, even though I had a difficult time applying it. Lately all of my nail polish has been going on difficultly so i’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Anyway, that’s all for today. Bye!

Avon Foot Works Healthy Intensive Moisture Foot Cream Review

This isn’t the first Avon foot cream I’ve tried. It won’t be the last, either. The other cream I had tried was the Lavender Overnight Treatment Cream which I mentioned in this post. I figured, however, that this cream would probably be better for winter, considering the bitter cold that happened this winter. And this cream was ok, but I personally think I liked the Lavender cream better. I wonder if I had tried using pumice on my feet with this at any point if I would have had better results, but my feet still felt kind of dry at times after using this. I mean, I could feel the difference after a while, but it wasn’t the difference I had wanted or expected. I’m currently just using a body lotion for my feet, but when I do decide to buy another cream from Avon, I will probably try something different or buy the Lavender cream. The smell of this was better than the Lavender cream. I don’t think it was actually scented, so it just had a light lotion scent to it.

Movie Mania #7

I know I just posted a movie mania post last week, but last week was my Spring Break! I didn’t do a ton, though I did get to hang out with a few of my friends early in the break, which was great. I kind of wish it was longer, and I keep thinking spring break is coming, except it’s over. Any way, on to the movies!

The Mighty Ducks- I don’t think I’d seen any of them before. My sister and I had planned to watch all three over Spring Break, as we had seen D2 on tv a few weeks before and thought it was ridiculous. We only made it through the first movie, but still intend to watch the other two. Anyways, this was indeed ridiculous. Though it was cute. It’s strictly a kids movie, or for people such as my sister and myself who have a strange (stupid) sense of humor. 3/5 stars

Veronica Mars- I have mentioned my love for Veronica Mars on a few different occasions, so I anxiously anticipated this movie. Did it live up to my expectations? Yes! This is made for the fans who paid for it, though I think others will enjoy it too. I was very pleased by this. I found myself laughing, gasping, wanting to cry, and, as the end credits started rolling, I wanted another movie. Just thinking about it makes me want to watch it again! I loved it so much! 4/5 Stars

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire- I’m not a crazy Hunger Games fan. Or any of these Young Adult book-turned-movies series. I still haven’t watched or read Breaking Dawn. Never read any of the Mortal Instruments. Catching Fire? Which ends on a HUGE cliff hanger? I read it and was like “WHAT?!” and I guess I don’t care enough to really read book 3. I eventually will, same with Breaking Dawn, just because I like to finish what I start. Anyway, in terms of movies? I felt Catching Fire was better than the Hunger Games. Though Catching Fire doesn’t get really exciting until it’s an hour into the movie, (it’s like 2 and half hours.) Anyway, it was good, I’m just not a Hunger Games enthusiast. 3.5/5 Stars

G.B.F.- This movie is a gender-swapped hybrid of Jawbreaker and Mean Girls. It is also a very obvious tribute to years past great teen movies. It constantly referenced Mean Girls, posters for movies like Heathers and Clueless  were displayed in one of the boys rooms (though the faces aren’t on display, and this may have just been something I noticed because I’m obsessed with these movies.) Even one of the lead actresses from Jawbreaker was in the movie. Did this live up to the greats? I don’t know. (Although I would argue that Jawbreaker wasn’t THAT great of a movie. It had some really great lines though.) This was very cute and funny, don’t get me wrong. I really did like it and I rooted for the main characters. I also like all of the constant Mean Girls references. This movie really knows its audience and embraces it. It also reminded me a lot of late 90s teen movies, which is awesome. However, it’s also a bit offensive (though intentionally,) and many of the lines, out of context, would probably upset people. I don’t mind offensive, but I know quoting this movie in conversation would stun most people and result in some angry looks and remarks. Though if you love teen movies as much as me, give this one a shot! 3/5 stars

Movie Mania #6

It has been nearly 2 months since I’ve written a Movie Mania post. Partially I got sick of writing about every movie I watched, as I had watched many that I was indifferent to. During the time I took off, I watched several movies, and while I really hadn’t considered writing reviews for each, or any, I had a lot of opinions. So I have decided that this post will be different than my usual Movie Mania Posts. I intend to write a few sentences about each movie, but I’m not providing pictures/ trailers as it will take a VERY long time as I watched quite a few movies. Instead I will provide IMDB links. I intend to start up regular posts again when inspiration strikes, but lately it hasn’t. I haven’t finished up a ton of products lately, I’ve been avoiding shopping and have been only buying relatively basic things, like new clothes. But I do think I may start to write posts about different types of things. I’ve recently been teaching myself different knit and crochet stitches (I could only do the very basics before,) and attempting to spring clean. Anyway, enough rambling. I’m just going to jump in to what will probably be a very long post.

Planes- I really loved the Disney movie Cars. Yes, it’s about talking cars, but it’s a very cute movie, and a really good one at that. I was disappointed with Cars 2, but that’s another story. I was excited about Planes though. I liked the idea that the Cars universe was going into planes. I liked the idea of a movie about talking Planes. I was incredibly disappointed. This movie seemed to solely be about money. I’m sure it made plenty, and the movie was cute, and I’m sure 5 year old boys everywhere loved it. However, it wasn’t very good, and the plot was very similar to that of Cars. One of the planes was also really terrible and mean, and he aggravated me the whole movie. I wanted to like this movie so badly, and I was aggravated that they didn’t come up with a more original plot. It could have been done. This movie just seemed lazy. 1.5/5 Stars

Struck By Lightning- This movie was alright. On one hand, it was written by Chris Colfer from Glee, who was probably about 20 or 21 when he wrote it. In that regard it was impressive. On the other, it was really just an okay movie. It was a bit more cynical than most teen movies (I’m using cynical here because this attempted to be black comedy, but really it just seemed grumpy,) but overall it didn’t feel like anything new came about here. It’s hard to com across a completely original teen movie these days, though at the same time, this was written by someone very young, so I applaud that. 2/5 stars

How to Make an American Quilt- I liked this movie, and was also aggravated by it. I was intrigued by the stories of the older women, however, not much time was spent on each women. I watched this movie because Winona Ryder was in it and when I watched the commercial I figured she was going to fall in love with this incredibly beautiful man and that was going to be the movie. But by the end I didn’t really care much about Winona’s character and felt it would have been a stronger movie if it has focused only on the older women and the escapades of their youth. Overall though, it was kind of boring. I don’t think I’d recommend this unless it was on tv and you had nothing better to do. 2.5/ 5 stars

This is the End- This movie was very gross and crude. VERY. However, it was also hilarious! It was a very ridiculous movie, and one of the most original i’d seen in ages. I loved the end of the movie. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who is easily grossed out or sensitive to things such as violence, gore, or extremely dirty jokes, because this movie had it in excess. I really liked it though. 3.5/5 Stars

Geography Club- This was such a cute and sweet movie. It was a bit sappy at times, but I do think that teenagers would like it, and also recognize the faces as almost all of the teen characters have been on Disney/ Glee/ ABC Family, etc. I don’t know how older people would feel about this, as it seems to be catered solely to a teenage/ young adult audience. This seems a lot like an ABC Family movie, except less ridiculous. I could definitely see them airing this and a lot of kids would like it. 3.5/ 5 stars

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones- Typically I read the book first, but this time I watched the movie first, thinking maybe I would want to read the book afterwards. I didn’t. It’s an okay movie. It seemed more interested in action sequences than plot though, at least to me. Some of the characters seemed underdeveloped. For example, it was implied the character of Alec was gay, and once it was mentioned it never came up again. Same with the other background characters. It seems like the writers of the movie assumed you read the books and already knew the details. I know there is a sequel and maybe this will be explained more, but I was aggravated that the background characters weren’t given any really dimension. They seemed like caricatures. I’ll watch the sequel, in hopes of learning more about the characters because I found them really interesting, but I don’t think I’m interested enough to read the book. 2.5/5 Stars

Four Weddings and a Funeral- I’m not sure why this movie has so much hype around it. It was very cute and sweet, yes, but it’s like every other romantic comedy. Sure this one is a bit older, and maybe better than many other romantic comedies, but it wasn’t all that unique. I recommend this to people who really like romantic comedies. And people who really like Hugh Grant.  I consider myself a fan of both and know I’m not the only one. 3/5 Stars

License to Wed- Ugh. I was so disappointed by this. It was supposed to be funny, and it has a few moments. But mostly it was just weird. Robin William’s characters gave some creepy vibes (I was literally convinced he LIKED Mandy Moore’s character at the end of the movie, which was just weird.) I typically like Mandy Moore movies. I typically like John Krasinski’s cute face. But those were like the only good things about this movie. I wouldn’t recommend this, really. So many other better romantic comedies. Some of which that are actually funny, and don’t have weird vibes. 1.5/5 Stars

Forrest Gump- Yes, I had never seen Forrest Gump until about a month ago. I wish that wasn’t true, as it is one of the most wonderful movies I’ve ever seen. Parts of it made me really angry, most of them involving the way Jenny treated Forrest throughout the movie. However, this movie was really great. If you’ve never seen it, I think it’s worth a viewing. Or several. 4.5/5 Stars

Jawbreaker- This movie tried to be a new Heathers. It had a few good lines, and Rose McGowan was pretty much perfect in it. But it’s not Heathers. When not comparing it to Heathers though, it is, well, actually it’s very hard not to compare the two. It’s not as dark as Heathers, and a bit sillier. I do think it’s worth a watch if you like movies about girls who treat each other terribly. But really this just seems like Heathers Lite. It wanted to go where Heather’s did, but instead the story doesn’t go nearly as far. 3/5 Stars

Empire Records- This is a typical mid 90s teen movie, really. However, the one thing I love about the 90s was all of the teen movies that came out. They’re really not made the same anymore. Every few years there will be a good one, but mostly they’re just romance movies about teens, instead of movies about actually being a teenager with romance in it. There is a difference. Anyway, I loved this. I think a lot of young people would watch it, though I’m guessing most people haven’t even heard of it which I think is a pity. 3.5/5 Stars

That Awkward Moment- I went to see this with a friend and we loved it. The humor is crude, and the movie overall is pretty ridiculous. But it made us laugh. Zac Efron fans will probably be pleased by this. I don’t think anyone over the age of 30 would like this, but I’m sure people in their 20s will get some laughs. It wasn’t made for anyone older than that though, really. The movie knows the age it was made for, and was funny for what it was. 3.5/ 5 Stars

Dallas Buyers Club- This movie just won a few awards at the Oscars, and I felt they were well deserved, as this movie and everyone in it was excellent. It was hard to watch at times, and very emotional. But it was a really, really good movie. 4/5 Stars

I Know What You Did Last Summer- This is actually the first horror movie I’ve ever seen. The movie is gory, but I wasn’t exactly frightened by it. I think I was startled once at the very end. Otherwise, this movie just seemed like a very long version of one of the “Scary” episode of Dawson’s Creek. (This movie was written by the man who created Dawson’s Creek. The kids party at Dawson’s Beach and the characters are very similar to that of the 4 leads of Dawson’s Creek. This movie came first but you could clearly see the direction the writer was headed in.) This movie was slightly stupid, but mostly fun. I think if you’re not into scary movies, this would probably be okay? It was mostly a teen movie with suspenseful music, some gore and a ridiculous ending. 2.5/5 Stars

The Lego Movie- I was SO surprised by this movie. I took my sister to see it over her winter break (she picked the movie,) and this was a genuinely good movie. So many cartoons I’ve seen lately are incredibly smart movies and I’m happy to see that they’re not trying to dumb things down for the audience and also taking into consideration that adults enjoy them as well. I was a bit surprised at the beginning of the movie, as it was giving off heavy vibes about trusting what you see in the media and the government. I would expect that in an adult movie, but was surprised to see it in a family oriented movie. Anyway, this was great. It was very funny, and I think anyone could enjoy it. 4/5 Stars

Girl, Interrupted- This was okay. It had its moments, sure. And I wasn’t necessarily bothered by the content, as I’ve watched tons of movie like this before. It wasn’t that it didn’t have a happy ending (it didn’t really, but I wasn’t bothered by it.) I just felt exhausted after it was over! And even then, that wasn’t the problem. The first time I watched Thirteen I was exhausted afterwards. But I found so much in that movie that I wasn’t bothered by it. I guess I just didn’t feel like this movie offered me anything. Maybe it’s just that I’ve seen other movies that cover the same problems, but they’re better than this. I wouldn’t watch this again, and I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it. It was just okay. 2.5/5 Stars

Mary Poppins- I had thought I’d seen this before, but I think I had just seen the Disney Sing Along Songs version, which my mom would always get me from the library when I was very young. Either way, if I had seen this before, it ha been YEARS since I’ve seen it again. But basically, this is delightful. It has some incredibly talented performers in it, and has some incredibly awesome musical numbers. It’s worth watching if for no other reason than the music numbers. Love this movie! 4/5 Stars

Endless Love- I’ve never read the novel, or seen the original movie. I’ve heard this is quite different. This was very cute and super melodramatic, and there were many scenes that were done very beautifully. It’s not exactly the greatest movie ever, but teenage girls will like it. It’s not original either. But it knows what kind of movie it is and doesn’t try to be anything else. 3/5 Stars

Grace Unplugged- This was cute, I guess. I feel like I’ve seen a lot of Christian themed films about overcoming adversities and finding your faith and what not. But this felt. I’m not sure. The father was getting on my nerves most of the movie, and by the end it seemed kind of preachy. Soul Surfer was better. 3/5 Stars

Nivea – A Kiss of Mint & Minerals Review

(No Photo Available)

It has been an extremely long time since I’ve written a review, or at least that’s how it feels. I recently finished off this lip balm and, as someone who tries lots of different lip balms, wanted to give my opinion on this one. I’m sure I’m not the only person who has been battling dry skin, lips, etc. during what has been a very cold winter (and another storm predicted for Monday? No thanks.) And it seemed that, during the coldest of the days, probably over my winter break, nothing was helping. Eos wasn’t cutting it, and I was trying to use my Lush lip scrub and it just wasn’t enough during this winter. I also had Walgreen’s version of EOS (another review for another day,) and that wasn’t helping either. Nor was my Baby Lips Dr. Rescue. This however, within a few days of continuous use, did help. Significantly. Not only were my lips no longer chapped, they actually felt hydrated. I also like that this lip balm was minty, as it felt tingly like a medicated lip balm, even though it isn’t. I was pretty upset when I finished this off and will probably buy it again next winter. I literally scraped every last bit of this out, and there was no product left at all when I was finished with it. But for now I have too many other lip balms to use up, and it’s started feeling a bit warmer. (As in, no longer in the the single digits.) I would definitely recommend this if you are having trouble with dry/ chapped lips this winter. 4/5 Stars

100 Questions Tag!

Hello! It has been probably over a month since I wrote a post (and nearly a month since I last posted.) I am not going to promise regular posts. I do have a few ideas of creative different things to post, but I don’t feel like writing a review for every movie I watch and every product I finished. I also intend to broaden what I write about. Anyway, I may or not post again this week. It might be a few weeks after this before I post anything else. But I guess I am technically returning. Anyway, I found these questions on: http://www.luuux.com/viz/100-questions-tag# and just thought it would be a nice way to post something just random and different. Here we go!

Movie Mania #5

American Hustle- This was fun, though I think the insane amount of praise it has received is unnecessary. I mean, yes I liked it, and I thought it was good, but it was a bit too long for me. Also there was a part with strobe lights which in a movie theater was a bit much (I don’t have seizures, but strobe lights, lights on police cars, etc, have always bothered me.) Overall, yes, it was fun. I don’t think it will change anyones life or anything, but it was good. 3/5 Stars

Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason- I feel like i could just say “Disappointing” and move on. It wasn’t as terrible as everyone says, I think. But it wasn’t as good as the other, and the movie feels unnecessary. It is funny at times, definitely, it’s just not as good or special as the first. 2/5 Stars

Where The Boys Are- I thought this was going to be a fun old fashioned movie about Spring Break. And it was. It was very funny and cute at times. However, no review I’ve read seems to mention that this movie takes a bit of a dark turn when one of the leads is raped and then hit by a car. It was not blatantly stated, no. But I thought it was said without words. That being said, I still liked it. I just kind of wish I had known before hand. It seems like a pretty innocent movie on the surface, and maybe a child could watch this and miss this and all of the talk about sex. But it is a movie for older teens. There is no hard partying like there was in say, Spring Breakers. The girls have a few beers and one gets drunk, but it’s not hardcore or anything. I did like this, I would just be weary of showing it to a younger person. 3/5 Stars

Despicable Me 2- This wasn’t as good as the original, but it was still pretty good. It was definitely funny. I really don’t feel like I have much to say besides this? Yea, basically it was pretty good and funny, but not as good as the original. 3/5 Stars

The Family- This wasn’t a “good” movie. But I thought it was fun. It was kind of mindless humor, but the humor was also pretty dark, and pretty violent. Though its a movie about the Mafia, so I guess it’s expected. Definitely not for everyone (I watched it with my friend Kelley, and though she didn’t actually say she didn’t like it I could tell she wasn’t crazy over it, but it was something different for both of us.) I don’t know if everyone would like this, but I personally thought it was an ok  movie. 3/5 stars
